Engineered Plastics

Polypropylene

Polypropylene has excellent dielectric strength, chemical resistance, heat resistance and its moisture absorption is practically nil and unsurpassed in flexural strength.  Unlike Polyethylene, Polypropylene is not prone to environmental stress cracking and is harder and has greater tensile strength.  Its heat resistance allows usage up to 176°F (80°C), but becomes brittle below 32°F (0°C).  Polypropylene has excellent chemical resistance and at room temperature is essentially insoluble in common solvents.  Ultra violet light and direct sunlight degrade it unless it is modified by additives.
